AromaTouch Massage
The AromaTouch Technique® is the application of essential oil to the back and feet. This technique combines the unique benefits of human touch with the power of essential oils to create an overall wellness experience. The essential oils used in the AromaTouch Technique were chosen for their individual and combined aromatic properties.
“The AromaTouch Technique was developed to maximize the benefits of essential oils. Its powerful benefits can be effectively delivered equally well by both the novice essential oil enthusiast and the professional health practitioner.” – Dr. David K. Hill
AromaTouch Technique Information
The essential oils used in the AromaTouch Technique are doTERRA Balance®, Lavender, Tea Tree (Melaleuca), doTERRA On Guard®, AromaTouch®, Deep Blue®, Wild Orange, and Peppermint. As Dr. Hill developed the AromaTouch Technique, he tried many different combinations of essential oils to create positive benefits and the perfect aromatic profile. These eight oils, as they are layered onto the body, are able to meet both of these important requirements.
AromaTouch Movements
Physical touch is as important to the AromaTouch Technique as the aroma itself because of its ability to soothe the body and bring people together. While the main purpose of the technique is to apply the oils and provide the recipient with an essential oil experience, the AromaTouch Technique is also about connecting with another person on an emotional level. The connections developed through the AromaTouch Technique form feelings of trust and help the recipient relax. The following movements help accomplish the results that we want with each step.
AromaTouch Steps
Performing the steps of the AromaTouch Technique in order with the proper oils is vital to the desired outcome. We have provided the names of the steps, when each step is used with each oil, and the quick reference guide to take you through each step of the technique in its entirety.
Aromatouch Hand Massage Technique
The AromaTouch® Hand Technique is not only a quick and convenient “AromaTouch On-The-Go,” but you can also choose any oil to use for the experience. If you know someone that could use a pick-me-up in the middle of the day, you can use Citrus Bliss® or Wild Orange. Use Lavender or doTERRA Serenity® in the Hand Technique for special one-on-one time with each of your kids before bedtime. You can also blend Spearmint and doTERRA Balance® to create a relaxed environment at work. The sky is the limit!
So how do you choose the right oil or blend for the person you are working with? To make it easy, we have created oil categories (found as a download below) to help you make an educated decision on which oil to use in each situation. Whether you are trying to make an oil blend or simply choose an oil, these oil categories are a great starting point for your AromaTouch Hand Technique experience.
Hand Technique Oil Blend Suggestions
The AromaTouch Hand Technique only takes 1–3 drops of oil applied to each hand to have an amazing oil experience. For each blend suggestion, you will need a sample vial . Put 25 drops of Fractionated Coconut Oil in the sample vial and then add the oil that you would like to use for the Hand Technique. This will help the oils blend well and readily absorb into the skin. After completing this step, apply 1–3 drops of the blend for the Hand Technique you are performing.

Use AromaTouh Hand Technique To Serve Others
It all started with an idea.
The AromaTouch Hand Technique is a simple and effective way to promote well-being and build powerful connections through the experience of essential oils. (Much like the full AromaTouch Technique wrapped in a smaller time-commitment package.) After internal AromaTouch Technique trainings in May of 2017, doTERRA had an army of willing and able employees ready to get out into the community and begin spreading the love. Enthusiastic recipients were not difficult to find, as six care facilities around Utah County eagerly agreed to a visit from our service-minded employees. Seeing how enthusiastic our employees are about using the AromaTouch Hand Technique to serve their community and to develop connections with the residents of these facilities has been an amazing experience. This is just beginning.
Ani Gabrielson, doTERRA Product Center Senior Manager shares her experience visiting the elderly at the local care facility:
I have enjoyed the AromaTouch Hand Technique service opportunities so much! I have been able to see how much change each one of us can create simply by sharing our time with others. We can brighten someone’s day just by having a conversation with them, and it completely changes our day as well. I have definitely seen the positive outcomes that this project has had, not only on the individuals that we visit, but also on myself and the other employees. I am proud to work for a company that cares about the community and puts in the time and effort to give back.
